Normal Vision has both central vision, which allows us to see fine detail and peripheral side vision, which allows us to recognize our surroundings.
Macular Degeneration is a common eye condition in older people. Central vision Deteriorates, along with reading, recognizing faces, and all close up work becomes difficult.
Diabetic Retinopathy can accompany long- term diabetes. Regular eye examines are important in order to monitor changes to blood vessels at the back of the eye.
Retinitis Pigmentosa may cause “Tunnel vision” and night blindness.
Cataract occurs when the lens of the eye becomes cloudy. An operation to
replace the lens often restores the vision.
Glaucoma is an increase of pressure inside the eye. People over 40 should have their eyes checked every 2 years for glaucoma.

Understanding AMD
“I can see the silverware on the table but I can’t see the food.”

Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is a disease that affects the central portion of the retina. This is known as the macula and controls our ability to read, drive a car, recognize faces or colors, and see objects in fine detail. This condition can cause the center part of the vision to become blurry or wavy. It could also cause a blind spot in the center of the vision.
